Attendance

The Education Act of Ontario requires that students attend school regularly and punctually each school day.  There is tremendous value in regular school attendance.  Consistent routines enable students to develop a strong sense of belonging, familiarity with their work requirements and a more active role in learning.

It is the parents/guardians’ decision whether a child is fit to attend school and, consequently, participate in the day’s activities.  Please ensure that you contact the school at 671-5953 is your child will be absent or late.  Written notes signed by a parent or guardian are required to authorize student absences and late arrivals.

Telephone explanations are acceptable when a note is not sent.  A note is also required prior to excusing a student from class for an appointment.  It is the school’s responsibility to inform the attendance counsellor of extensive or recurring absences and lates.

Late Arrival

Students arriving at school late must report to the office to check in.
